Housing services to be improved for older people10.00.00pm GMT Wed 23rd Mar 2005 Birmingham City Council under the new Liberal Democrat and Conservative administration are to improve housing services for older people and make sure they address residents' wider needs and help them retain as much independence as possible. The role of wardens at sheltered schemes is to be expanded and modernised so that they can help tenants access the whole range of support services such as Care Line, Home Care, Community Nursing, GP and other services. Nicola Davies, Liberal Democrat Candidate for Birmingham Hodge Hill said "I welcome these improvements, too often when I visit older people in the constituency I hear their worries about the service that has been provided in the past in Birmingham, I am glad the Liberal Democrats in the Council are fighting to improve these services."
