West Midlands Liberal Democrats Autumn Conference9.00.00pm UTC (GMT +0000) Sat 12th Nov 2005
Today saw the West Midlands Liberal Democrats Autumn Conference take place in Stratford upon Avon, many Birmingham Liberal Democrats attended and took an active part in all the debates including one about the proposals for the expansion of Birmingham Airport and another about exemptions from the minimum wage for younger people in employment. Birmingham Yardley MP John Hemming and Solihull MP Lorely Burt both addressed conference, it was the first West Midlands Liberal Democrat Conference since their elections earlier this year. The Keynote speaker was Phil Willis, Liberal Democrat MP for Harrogate who gave an passionate speech about the future of British politics.
