Cameron still to prove environmental credentials - Huhne

2.43.07pm UTC (GMT +0000) Fri 12th Jan 2007

Responding to David Cameron's claims to be leading the way on environmental policies, Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Secretary, Chris Huhne MP said "David Cameron is showing incredible gall by claiming to be at the forefront of environmental policy."

Mr. Huhne further said "While he is clearly good at churning out warm words and support for targets, he has yet to propose a single firm measure that will deliver cuts in carbon emissions. If problems could be solved by setting targets, this would be the best governed country in the world. Only the Liberal Democrats have brought forward clear proposals to make our tax system greener and fairer, but not higher, to safeguard the planet for our children and grandchildren."
