Ladywood Liberal Democrats have voted to select Ayoub Khan, one of their local councillors, as their Parliamentary Candidate. Councillor Khan represents Aston Ward which is in the Ladywood constituency on Birmingham City Council. Addressing the hustings meeting of Ladywood Liberal Democrats Cllr Khan said that the local Labour Party was in disarray and now Clare Short who was elected as the Labour MP in 2005 has left Labour the Liberal Democrats have a very good chance of winning at the next general election.
