Liberal Democrat MP proposes Bill to release Saudi contract reports

In a 10 minute bill presented to parliament today, Lib Dem MP for Southport John Pugh has called on parliament to lift the cloud of suspicion and allegation that hangs over the Al-Yamamah and other international contracts by providing a proper means of parliamentary scrutiny. He said that the release to an appropriate committee of the Commons of sensitive reports like the National Audit Office report on the arms deal, as proposed in his Inter-Government Contracts (Provision of Information) Bill, would do much to restore credibility all round.
