Save Our Post Offices

In the past decade we have lost Post Office branches across Birmingham. Now the government have announced plans to close down 2500 more branches across the country. In other words, nearly one in five of the remaining Post Offices are to be closed. No lists of branches to be closed has yet been published, but no part of the country can escape these massive cutbacks.

The Liberal Democrats have launched a petition against the closure plans. You can sign it online at http://www.libdems.org.uk/commerce/issues/postoffice.html

Councillor Penny Wagg (Acocks Green) said, "Post Offices are vital community assets and Liberal Democrats are fighting hard to keep them open.

"We will be joining forces with other Liberal Democrats throughout the country to take the petition to the Government to ask Labour to think again about closing down such a large part of this vital public service."
