A win for Cllr Knowles - helping people who live in single occupancy homes

Recently, Lib Dem councillors across Birmingham have received calls from distressed residents who live alone because of letters they have received giving then just a few weeks to complete online forms, reconfirming their details so that council tax payments can be calculated.

The letters came with long passkeys to be entered online, before completing the form. There was no phone number and no face to face help available.

For vulnerable people, elderly and people without internet access this has caused a lot of concern.

Councillor Izzy Knowles raised this with the cabinet member at full council this week who concurred - the interaction is here:

Swift action was taken thereafter to set up a phoneline:

Residents can call 0121 303 1113, select option 3 and speak to someone to resolve their concerns between office hours of 9am - 5pm.
