MP Manuela Perteghella

In a debate discussing Labour failures in relation to Birmingham Bin Strike and the waste crisis, MP for Stratford-on-Avon Manuela Perteghella made sure that the voice of Birmingham Liberal Democrats was heard in Westminster - loud and clear. Both, Acocks Green Councillor, Liberal Democrat Council Group Leader Roger Harmer and also Yardley East Councillor Deborah Harries were quoted in UK Parliament Westminster Hall debate on Birmingham's bin strike.

Deborah Harries was quoted, saying: “The very least a citizen can expect from their council, in return for paying their council tax, is for their bin to be collected. Yet this basic service has not been delivered fully in Birmingham for more than a year, despite residents being asked to find a 7.5% increase in council tax this year, on the back of a 10% increase last year.”
