Councillor Zaker Choudhry nominated as Lord Mayor Elect of Birmingham for 2026–2027

The Birmingham Liberal Democrat Group is delighted to announce that Councillor Zaker Choudhry, who represents South Yardley Ward, has been nominated as Lord Mayor Elect of Birmingham for the municipal year 2026–2027.

 

Councillor Choudhry has served Birmingham with dedication for many years, championing local communities and promoting civic pride. His nomination will be formally ratified at an Extraordinary Meeting of Birmingham City Council in February 2026.

 

Councillor Roger Harmer, Leader of the Birmingham Liberal Democrat Group, said:

“I’m thrilled that Zaker Choudhry has been nominated as Lord Mayor Elect. Zaker’s long record of public service and commitment to Birmingham make him an outstanding choice to serve as our city’s First Citizen.”
