Lib Dem councillors leading on road safety: Successful Lib Dem Road Safety Motion pushes Council into action
During September City Council Meeting, the Liberal Democrat Group of Birmingham City Council (pictured above while taking part in a recent cross-party anti-racism & hate speech initiative) achieved an important step on the way to make Birmingham roads safer.
Although it feels like it can take forever to achieve change in Birmingham, it doesn’t have to be this way. Yesterday, the Liberal Democrat Councillors celebrated major decisive breakthrough by successfully pushing the Labour led Council, infamous for its inaction, to finally take the crucial first step for addressing urgent Road Safety Emergency in our City.
The day after submitting the Liberal Democrat Road Safety Motion, successfully approved by the full Council yesterday, the wheels finally started moving towards real action, which has been long awaited, and unduly delayed since December 2022.
While waiting for the Council to act, sadly, lives have been lost. The situation became untenable, leading Birmingham to announcing the Road Safety Emergency. Still, until the recent decisive push by the Lib Dems, no actions were happening.
This is a yet another example of how Birmingham Liberal Democrats are truly standing up for the people, and offer concrete, competent and effective solutions that address the urgent needs of our City.
Yesterday, Lib Dem councillors held the Labour led Council to account, pressing for urgently needed effective actions that will make a real difference on whole host of issues urgently needing improvements.
Liberal Democrats have solutions to ensure better Council management, which would make Birmingham safer, cleaner and well organised.
With competent actions, we could truly, not just by words and on paper only, tackle the healthcare insufficiencies, current housing and cost-of-living crisis, provide adequate employment and training support, accessible safe public spaces, effective education support, thriving local economy, and create a well-functioning Council, where whistle-blowers don't have to come to media to raise red flags.
The Council has a duty of care to our citizens. With our dedication, expertise and years of experience Liberal Democrats will continue holding all failures to account, pushing for making Birmingham a better place to live, and a place where Council is truly, working for the people.
