Liberal Democrats are calling for a 'unity budget' for Birmingham
Following Tuesday’s failure of Labour to hold a vote on their budget proposal, Birmingham Liberal Democrats are calling for all parties to come together and work out a compromise budget for the good of the residents of our city.
Cllr Roger Harmer, Leader of the Birmingham Liberal Democrat Council Group, said:
“The Labour administration, elected in 2022 with a majority of 29 councillors, is now clearly lacking the confidence to put its budget to the vote.
“Birmingham Liberal Democrats propose the Council agrees a “unity budget” that puts the good of the city ahead of party politics.
“This would enable the council to keep functioning until the residents have their say in the all-up elections on May 7th and elect a new administration.”
